Math

Matt Tabor took this photo of us just after we got the last of the vinyl installed on the truck. In the background is the blue WRX of Stevan and Kristin Arychuk. We're "buddied" up with them- We travel together at all times in case one of us has a problem.

We spent the night at dinner and a short reception (read: free beer and snacks).

We hooked up with Team Sirius today. Team Sirius is two other cars (A Subaru WRX and Forester) from Canada. They invited us to join them for scoring purposes, since the Alcan presents awards to teams based on some complicated formula. We couldn't figure out the formula, but it sounded cool be on on a team so we went for it. :) Team Sirius includes Gord, who is Pat Richard's service chief, Jennifer, and August in a WRX. In the Forester is the father and son team of Josh and Evans.

We met lots of other interesting Alcan personalities- Some of whom have been doing this event for 25 years. Really looking forward to getting to know them all better over the next several days.

At the moment, Bill is burning CD's from his laptop so we have music.

I'm finishing the Excel spreadsheet that will guide us on the TSD tomorrow. This spreadsheet calculates our "perfect time" every .5 miles during the two TSD sections tomorrow. There are two TSD's tomorrow- One for 40 miles, and one for 17 miles.

Bill said today that he thought we had a chance of finishing in the top 10. I think we're doomed. The day's total mileage is 483 miles, ending in Quesnel.

All for now! Time to sleep.

I'm glad to her that you're partnered with another team. Makes it all a little safer out there in the wilderness. After today you'll be about 1/10 of the way there. Hang in there.

Still can't believe you are doing this ~ and don't know where you get your energy? Hope the cab stays warm enough for you - especially since you both are less than 100%! Thanks for the update -be waiting for more!!!

Doug, I thought you showed stamina when we used to make those 2 a.m. grocery runs to County Market. You are taking it to a whole new level here. Good luck guys, and stay safe.
